A Side of Mustard

LOFT Top, American Eagle Jeans, BCBG Heels, J. Crew Clutch

I love a monochromatic look.  I wear head to toe black practically every other day.  When it comes to mustard yellow though, I tend to err on the side of caution.  It’s one of the few shades of yellow that I can wear as a blonde, and I do not take that lightly.  I find that this shade works best for me in small doses and in a modest cut.  I really like the feminine feel this top gives to my distressed boyfriend jeans, and it’s simplicity allows me to have fun with accessories, like a red lip, color-blocked clutch, and leopard print slingbacks.

A Statement Coat

A statement coat is a wonderful addition to any wardrobe.  It’s the chic finishing touch that adds a bit of whimsy to your ensemble.  I prefer to let the topper be the focal point of my look and pair it with basics.  It really transforms a monotone outfit and kicks it up a notch.  Your statement coat doesn’t have to be patterned, a jacket in an unexpected color is incredibly refreshing, but everyone knows I love a good leopard print!

When you are struggling with what to wear in the morning, revert back to whatever you feel most comfortable in.  For some it may be head to toe black, but for me it’s always skinny jeans, heels, and a statement top with a relaxed fit.  This combo makes me feel confident and pulled together even on those ‘off” days.  It’s important to find what works for you to best understand your signature style.

P.S.  Boston we love you!  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and their families who were directly affected by Monday’s horrific events.

A striped top and boyfriend jeans have their place in everyone’s wardrobe, and combined they’re pretty much my off duty uniform.  This weekend I strayed from my usual flats and tote bag accessories and dressed up my basics with an edgy necklace, a fun fringed purse, and leopard print heels.  This was not as comfortable or practical as I’m used to dressing during down time, but a fancier look is usually the winner in my book.

Fun And Flouncy

Fun and Flouncy

French Connection Sweater, Zara Skirt, Michael Kors Boots, Banana Republic Earrings

I aim to have some fun everyday, and I typically like to start having the fun as soon as possible.  Because I can’t eat cake every morning for breakfast, I get my kicks picking out an outfit.  How can I not have fun wearing a bright blue sweater, and flouncy leopard print skirt?  The answer is, it’s impossible.  So, do yourself a favor and pick out a happy outfit today.

Getting back to cake though, it’s Max’s birthday this weekend, so we will definitely be eating some for breakfast.  It’s a must on birthdays.  Now don’t forget to wish him a happy birthday and thank him for making this blog possible!  Happy Birthday Max!

While an all black ensemble can be sleek and chic, it can sometimes come across as flat.  I aimed for the former, and tried to avoid the latter, by combing different textured black separates.  I topped fitted black trousers with a fuzzy sweater and quilted boots.  A spot of color and some leopard print by way of a scarf added some much needed character.  It’s all about the accessories!
