Some people may question the versatility of a pair of leopard print pants, but I’m having a hard time finding things that I don’t want to wear with them. For a dressier look I paired them with a studded peplum top, laced up heels, and delicate jewelry. For work I wore them with a fun sweater, brogues, and a menswear inspired watch. I may have to hide these pants from myself for awhile because it has the potential to get pretty boring around here.
For a night out with old friends, I revisited some old wardrobe staples: my faux fur vest, faux leather pants, and a splash of bright blue. Newer isn’t always better, especially when compared to tried and true favorites. Personal style is like a friendship, if you find something that works, stick to it. And I have some pretty excellent friends.
When I think of tweed, I associate it with the Northeast during colder weather. However, the color and weight of this tweed skirt are really throwing me for a loop. It’s too thick and structured for me to want to wear it during the summer, but too light and thin for the winter. I have therefore declared it an “in between” garment, for now.
Hats! When it’s gray and snowy outside, even in the springtime, I like to make the best of it by wearing bright accessories. This hat is basically perfect in the sense that it’s both fashionable and practical. It keeps my head warm and dry, while adding a pop of color to my look. That’s my idea of a multipurpose tool.
One of my biggest pet peeves is dressing inappropriately for the weather. And Mother Nature certainly has been throwing some curve balls with 50 degree days and 30 degree nights, making it hard for me not to be annoyed with my outfit choices at some point during the day. The transition period between seasons is always the hardest to dress for, but can be done by dressing in layers. A down vest over a light sweater was perfect during the day, and when the temperature dropped down at night I replaced my vest with a warmer coat and I was good to go!
I aim to have some fun everyday, and I typically like to start having the fun as soon as possible. Because I can’t eat cake every morning for breakfast, I get my kicks picking out an outfit. How can I not have fun wearing a bright blue sweater, and flouncy leopard print skirt? The answer is, it’s impossible. So, do yourself a favor and pick out a happy outfit today.
Getting back to cake though, it’s Max’s birthday this weekend, so we will definitely be eating some for breakfast. It’s a must on birthdays. Now don’t forget to wish him a happy birthday and thank him for making this blog possible! Happy Birthday Max!
