I took a risk. Clearly. I took fashion advice from Duchess and wore head to toe plaid. I’m thinking I should listen to her more often, because I quite enjoy this look. The different sized patterns and the inverted colors are what make this work, instead of clashing with one another. Duchess and Marc Jacobs circa 1992 would have gotten along famously I do believe.
Oh, and I have bangs now. Duchess didn’t recommend them, but I think she likes my new look by the way she has failed to acknowledged it.

What can I say about leopard print that hasn’t already been said? Nothing! It’s the perfect print and I enjoy/can’t help incorporating it into my wardrobe in a slightly embarrassing amount. I will never apologize for that. However, in an attempt to tone down the jungle cat trousers I wore it with an over-sized white sweater and light pink ankle boots. I think the result was feminine and soft compared to the edgy and hard vibe that usually accompanies the print. Le leopard is so versatile!

There is officially less than one month until it’s spring! Unofficially, it’s more like two months. No matter, the snow left from Nemo is melting, the days are getting longer, and I’m officially bored of my winter wardrobe. Hence me baring too much skin in freezing temperatures all in the name of these Prabal Gurung for Target heels. I love them and the possibility of frost bite was totally worth it!

One gray day plus one gray outfit does not add up to a sunny disposition. But throw in the closest thing I have to a technicolor dream coat and it’s a different story! I have yet to master working this coat into my everyday wardrobe without looking a little crazy. However, when I find myself wearing neutral basics, this coat adds just the right amount of polish and whimsy.

I have a tendency to steer away from lace. It always seems too delicate and feminine for my taste. However, I couldn’t help myself from being draw to this skirt. The peekaboo lace is subtle as it peeks through the well placed slits in this sequined tweed piece. You can only see the lace panels when I move, so I felt like I had a little bit of a secret. I certainly felt feminine wearing this outfit, but it was anything but too delicate.

I’m a sucker for Valentine’s Day. The flowers, the candy, the cards, dressing up in red and pink, I love it all! This year I tried to take the more “sophisticated” and “understated” route for thematic holiday dressing. I wore the palest pink blouse with black hearts and a graphic leopard print skirt for a fun and flirty look that was a little less obvious. Opaque black tights and menswear inspired heels grounded the girly pieces.
Truth: chocolate in a heart-shaped box given to you by someone you love tastes better. Facts are facts.
